March 24, 1963 The Frances Hubbard Diaries

March 24, 1963
Sunday, beautiful sunny day warm 52.  Snow is melting, can begin to see some bare ground again. Girls and I went to Church and Sunday School. Boys went out in afternoon. Clifton still sick. Mother called in am. Gerald called at night.
Comment: Spring is "springing" finally, and probably lifting everyone's mood..the number one song on March 24, 1963 was "He's So Fine" by the Chiffons.   If kids were lucky, they could listen to songs on the early transistor radios.  I don't remember any transistor radios on the farm so we either listened to music on truck stop or saloon juke boxes or on the car radios.  The family stayed in pretty good touch by telephone most of the time.....
Here is a picture of an early transistor radio.  Tough to match the Fifties Rock And Roll Cool

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
