Wednesday, cloudy, 38 high.  Started snowing 7:30 pm.  I had headache all night and didn't feel good all day.  Clifton and Wayne went to Middleburgh after car after school.
Comment: Not sure what car they are going after, cars seemed to be a constant problem.....no mention of St. Patrick's day....there was some Irish heritage on my mother's side but apparently not enough to foster any regard for it. Mary Briggs, David's girlfriend at the time, was Irish and I'm sure her and David did some celebrating....

Comment: I must be heading to Buffalo to my job at Ford.....Ford College Graduate Training Program, "Figtip", 2 years of rotational assignments through finance, accounting, and operations analysis at about $8k per year or about $76k in 2023..right out of college, talk about luck....those times probably will never come back...too dumb to know how good I had it and what the opportunity was....

March 4, 1965 Thursday beautiful warm day 50's.  Finished davenport.  Cleaned and Susan Stryker came home with Sue.  I went to prayer meeting at Evelyn's.  Had a long letter from Marilyn.
Comment: Sounds like a nice day....and news from Gilboa less than a hundred years prior to this entry from Dorothy Pickett's Gilboa Newsletter: Hard to imagine such tragedy...

"Back in Time: July 22, 1880 Mr. William Brink, living about two miles below Gilboa,
about three weeks ago had two children and seven grandchildren living in the same house with him, all of whom have died since that time, with the dreadful disease diphtheria. At two different times they carried two at a time in the same wagon."...Dorothy Pickett, Gilboa Newsletter 3.4.2013

Wednesday, March 3, 1965 The Frances Hubbard Diaries

March 3, 1965
Wednesday, beautiful day, 50's, partly cloudy.  I covered cushions for davenport.  Clifton cut up deer that LaVerne hit and we put 1/2 of it in cooler.
Comment: Deer-car collisions were quite common. I remember at least two that I was involved in. Pete Hughes had a deer come through the windshield into the front seat of his car and after the stunned deer revived, of course, it wanted to get out and Pete wound up with a noticeable scar on his chin....must have been an exciting couple of minutes...
Mom says they put the deer in the "cooler"...I think that means the milk cooler but not sure. Before we got a freezer and refrigerator, we often put perishable stuff in the milk cooler........

Monday, March 1, 1965 The Frances Hubbard Diaries

March 1, 1965
Monday, sunny, 10 to 35.  I washed and started cushions for davenport.  Richard Dadone here in am.  Federal Income tax came $427.17.  Cleaned wood house and cleaned front lawn.
Comment: No idea who Richard Dadone is....The $427 refund would be about $4023 today so was a pretty good sum....
You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
