Monday, 16 April, 1962, The Frances Hubbard Diaries

Monday, 16 April, 1962, The Frances Hubbard Diaries
Cold, windy, cloudy, 32 high.  Clifton and Wayne went to Schoharie in am, home at noon.  Marilyn, Jim and David went to Schoharie in pm after Jim's permit.  I washed and cleaned up the house.  Snow going very slow.  HB called and and said Jim was laid off until he got his license.  Moved washer into wood house.  Had a note from Dougie.  Charles Lee was killed at Potter's Hollow, Carol Cleveland was hurt bad.
Comment:  The Lee's and Clevelands lived in a clutch of cabins and one main house on the Bull Hill Road just past the Young farm.  They were one of the poorest families in the area...I don't seem to remember either of the them....how it was in 1962...

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
