Wednesday, 14 March, 1962, The Frances Hubbard Diaries
Still cloudy and storming.  We washed, went to prayer meeting at Lyle's at night, Marilyn, Carol, Sue and I.  Clifton and Jim cut a load of wood.  Earl was over to get the men to help with a fresh cow. LaVerne and Roberta were here in the afternoon for a few minutes.
Comment:  Must be something pretty wrong with Earl's cow.  A "fresh" cow is one that is having a calf and usually it is pretty routine with no help needed.  The cow usually isn't seen for a while and then is found with a newborn calf.......Here is Patty on the Hill at that time:

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
