Thursday, December 5, 1963, The Frances Hubbard Diaries

December 5, 1963
Thursday, cloudy.  Left Lodi, Ohio 5:30 am, reached Springfield 8:45 and it started to snow.  Came through Columbus before day light.  Reach Indiana border 9:50 am, no snow for a while then light snow and wet roads.  Cloudy most of the day.  Set clocks back west of Indianapolis, were there around noon.  Crossed Mississippi River 3:30 central time.  Stayed over night near Sullivan MO 60 miles west of St. Louis and ate supper there.

Comment:  Did 581 miles and probably at least 12-13 hours on the road.  About a third of the trip completed in two days....

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
