Thursday, July 15, 1965 The Frances Hubbard Diaries

Thursday, July 15, 1965
Beautiful clear day, 70's.  Sue went to swim lessons for the first time.  Took her to the corner to meet the bus.  Carol and I went to Ella's after a cake cover and plate when we went after Sue.  I did some sewing.  Had long letter from Marilyn.
Comment:  The "corner" was  where Blakesley road met Hubbard Road and where the Gonzlicks lived.  When LaVerne was sixteen or so he and Herman Huber had a head-on collision at the corner with a stake body pickup and Herman's car. .  No one was hurt.  I think LaVerne was a fault  but Herman wanted nothing except to get his car fixed.  Herman's wife initially said she hurt her back but Herman talked to her awhile and it went away.....Herman was a butcher in Germany and he helped us butcher some cows and pigs occasionally...view from the second floor of the Hubbard House.....

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
