Monday, April 19, 1965 The Francis Hubbard Diaries

April 19, 1965
Monday, sunny and warmer, 40, snow melted a lot.  I washed in am and covered a chair.  Earl here for dinner, he left in pm and went to Ken DeWitt's.  Wrote to Dougie.  Edna Brainard died suddenly at night heart attack.
Comment: I think Edna was the wife of Ralph Brainard who used to work for Dad when he was town superintendent. Donald Brainard was a close friend of LaVerne's during high school and beyond. There were a couple more Brainard kids, Marie and Chuckie, and Margie. I remember those kids going to work with Ralph on the town roads when we went to work with Dad and spending quite a bit of time together......here is a picture of Dad when he was town superintendent of highways standing next to a new Walter Sno Fighter snow plow....

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
