Monday, December 14, 1964 The Frances Hubbard Diaries

December 14, 1964
Monday, partly cloudy, windy, cooler, 20's.  I sewed on girl's dresses all day.  Mailed some Christmas cards to California.  Went to church at night to tape music for program.
Comment: And another week starts with Christmas preparations....saw this picture of Vrooman's Nose and it reminded me of how that area looks in the winter....

In searching for this picture I ran across an article about an asteroid impact crater a few miles from Hubbard Hill in the Panther Mountain area: "The impact is
estimated to have occurred 375 million years ago, during the Devonian period, when much of what is now the Catskills was either river delta or a shallow sea. The crater lies 2,640 feet (800 m) below the surface, is 6 miles (10 km) wide, and lies directly under the mountain. The meteorite that struck is believed to have been roughly one-half mile (1 km) wide, striking with a force equivalent to 11 trillion tons (9.9 trillion tonnes) of TNT.[3]  Copy and paste the following link for the Wicki article.....

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
