Thursday, April 2, 1964 The Frances Hubbard Diaries

April 2, 1964
Thursday, mostly cloudy and cool.  I cleaned up the house, went to Escondido in the afternoon and grocery shopped.  Marilyn and Jim are here for supper.  Dean stayed overnight as Marilyn worked from 10 pm to 6 am.  I wrote to Mother, Dougie, Gerald, and Evelyn Bailey.  $150 unemployment check came.
Comment: The check does not sound like a lot but: $150 in 1964 has a relative wage of $1,743.94 paid to a Production Worker today.

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
