Sunday, April 12, 1964 The Frances Hubbard Diaries

April 12, 1964
Sunday, windy drive, in dust storm all day.  Left Grants N.M. 7:15, made Albuquerque N.M. ate breakfast in a lovely place ( Pancake House). East hilly, rocky, then evergreens, lower elevation greener.  Stayed in Sayre Oklahoma, dust storm worse.
Comment:  They did some "trucking", about 500 miles in a dust storm.....Woody Guthrie chronicled the hardships of the migrant workers and small farmers during the dust Bowl era ...here is the Wicki article about him and his songs:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dust_Bowl_Ballads

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
