February 2, 1963 The Frances Hubbard Diaries

February 2, 1963
Sat 20-30 Cloudy very light snow in am.  Turning to rain in afternoon and evening.  Wayne went to Middleburg. to put up poster for school.  Linda and Jay went too.  He came home around 7 P.M. and Gerald started for Gloversville but turned around and came back because roads were so icy. We’d planned to go to South Jefferson to rally but didn’t go because of ice.  Boys had to use tractor to get Gerald's and David's car home up the hill below the house.
Comment: Slippery-n-hell on the hill  and activities delayed.

Thanks to Michael Hubbard,  I just learned that my great-great grandfather Jabez Hubbard with his wife Maria Brandow moved to Hubbard Hill or to a close-by mountain in 1860 or so and was an officer in the Green County anti-slavery organizations. More about this later.

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
