Thursday, 8 February, 1962, The Frances Hubbard Diaries

Thursday, 8 February, 1962, The Frances Hubbard Diaries
Partly cloudy, 5 to 25 degrees.  Wayne was home with headache.  Clifton cut logs.  I went to Fultonham with Madalyn to accessory lessons.  Paul Ellis stopped in pm.  I worked on my dress.
Comment:  The lessons must have been about her sewing machine....Paul was our cousin, son of Clarence and Madalene Hubbard Ellis and at one time worked the Elmer Hubbard farm for awhile.  Dad was violating all sorts of safety philosophies by cutting logs alone in the woods.  There's a whole bunch of stuff that can happen cutting logs and most of it is bad.....of course, we never had any safety helmets or other gear...I still have some faint scars on my leg where I grazed myself with a chainsaw....lucky again....

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
