Army Regulation 672-5-1

Reason:  Staff Sergeant Scutt distinguished himself by heroism in sustained combat operations against a hostile enemy force in the Republic Of Vietnam from August 1969 to April 1970.  He pursued the enemy with aggressive military tactics, neutralizing and defeating him whenever contact could be made.  His heroic and valiant actions were often characterized by unselfishly exposing himself to hostile fire under the adverse conditions inherent in a combat environment.  He has contributed materially to the successful accomplishment of the United States mission in the Republic Of Vietnam.  His display of personal bravery and devotion to duty is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit to himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
