TC 320.  The Following Award Is Announced

Scutt, Lawrence, D.  RA 12673873 Specialist Four, United States Army
Company B, 2d Battalion (Airmobile) 12th Calvary

Awarded:  Army Commendation Medal With "V" Device
Date Action:  27 November 1968
Theatre:  Republic Of Vietnam
Reason:  For heroism in connection with military operations against a hostile force in the Republic Of Vietnam.  Specialist Four Scutt distinguished himself by heroism in action on 27 November, 1968, while serving as a rifleman with Company B, 2d Battalion, (Airmobile) 12th Cavalry during a search and clear mission near Loc Hoa, Republic Of Vietnam.  When his unit became heavily engaged with a large enemy force, Specialist Scutt exposed himself to the intense hostile fire as he led the initial assault against the enemy fortifications.  On several occasions, Specialist Scutt entered enemy bunkers seeking possible prisoners and equipment.  His display of personal bravery and devotion to duty is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service, and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
