Wednesday, 4 July, 1962, The Frances Hubbard Diaries
Cloudy, warm. Mother and Norm, Poppa and Bille were here, all our family except Gerald who had to work. Sandy Finch was here. Aunt Flora and Emma came after dinner. We ate outside. LaVerne's, Marilyn and Jim and us went to Schoharie to see fireworks at night. Boys started haying. Cut part of the field next to Halls....
Comment: Except for me, the family gathers....damn the holidays, the milk must go through....."It was Wednesday, under the sign of Cancer. The US president was John F. Kennedy (Democratic). In that special week of July people in US were listening to The Stripper by David Rose and His Orchestra. In UK I Can't Stop Loving You by Ray Charles was in the top 5 hits. Birdman of Alcatraz, directed by John Frankenheimer, was one of the most viewed movies released in 1962 ."
