Wednesday, 23 May 1962, The Frances Hubbard Diaries
Nice day.  David, Marilyn, Kids, and I went on Pinkster Mountain and got two evergreen trees, lilac bushes and set them out in pm.  We set out tomato plants too.  Prayer meeting at church at night.  Just us and Grandpa and Louise were there.  They brought us home and stayed a while.
Comment:  Our plant "nursery" was anything that grew on any of the surrounding mountains.  There were many old homesteads through the hills that still sported flowering plants, massive beds of rhubarb and apple and lilac trees...and the CCC had reforested the hills with various evergreens during the depression era....our noble ancestors from whence all Hubbards came invading England....take a look:   https://archive.org/details/onethousandyears00daye

You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
