I’ve had migraine headaches since age 13. It was sometimes better to keep going than to lay down. Mine with the aura start out with a little flashing blind spot on one side of my field of vision, and the spot grows and grows for a period of about 20 minutes – until the visual flashing zigzag circle has grown outside my field of vision – then the pain starts – can last from hours to over a day – with light sensitivity, sensitivity to smell, nausea, diarrhea, sound sensitivity for a while – (like you are in a tunnel). Even after the worst pain subsides hours and days later, you can still have throbbing pain like if you bend over, or something like that. I got to the point I started to have a phobia about them, when I was in my late 30’s, never knowing when one would hit, where you would be, etc. I got help by taking a beta blocker – still get the aura (visual disturbance, nausea, noise sensitivity), but not the terrible pain. Since menopause it’s better – hormonal for sure. But, I think some times, Mom got dehydrated too, which also probably contributed to it all. They can be TERRIBLE. I recommend a beta blocker to anyone I know that has them. The other meds don’t work that great. Love you – Susan
