Lovely day in the 70's. Girls and I went to Church and Sunday School and Carol, Clifton and I went to 50th anniversary for Elton Cross and on down Palenville Mountain. Girls and I took Doug to Kingston at night. David had National Guard.
Comment: Boy, they sure put some miles on those cars......Palenville is the fictional home of Rip van Winkle and an art center.....Palenville was an important center of the Hudson River school of the 19th century. Thomas Cole, Frederic Church, and other notable painters stayed and worked in Palenville during the height of the movement. The famous painting Kindred Spirits depicts Cole and William Cullen Bryant nearKaaterskill Falls, just uphill from the town. The famous Catskill Mountain House was also located just outside Palenville. Palenville is the fictional home of Rip van Winkle. Example of Hudson River School of painting...
