Sunday, December 13, 1964 The Frances Hubbard Diaires
December 13, 1964 Sunday, warm, 50 and mostly sunny. We went to church and to Mother's for dinner and back to church to practice at night. Comment: Peaceful, warm Sunday.......I remember Grandma Bessie's chicken dinners...
From Sister Sue: Grandma Bessie’s chicken was the best! She would cook it a little, I believe, then fry it down, slow and crispy in a frying pan. Or, she – and Mom – would fix chicken and biscuits, with fluffy baking powder biscuits, and gravy, gravy, gravy. Or chicken pie – with peas, carrots, onions, and maybe celery with lots of gravy, with biscuit dough on top - baked in the oven…
You're always young in your mind it is said, No matter the face in the mirror, That you see with surprise then say to yourself, "What is that old man doing here?"
